Position Description:
The Raymond A. Kent School of Social Work & Family Science at the University of Louisville (UofL) invites applications for a full-time, 10-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor position, that will begin August 1, 2026.

The Kent School encourages candidates to apply whose research addresses the needs and experiences of populations spanning the breadth of human experience, and who have demonstrated the ability to create and maintain inclusive work environments, collaborate effectively on multi-disciplinary teams, and support an increasingly varied student body. Kent School faculty often teach across the curriculum at multiple levels (e.g., undergraduate, master's, and doctoral) and have one or more areas of research for dissemination (e.g., publications, presentations), translation, and grant submissions.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Earned doctorate in social work, family science, or a related field
- Master's Degree in Social Work, and at least 2 years post-master's practice experience
- Evidence of successful scholarship development and strong potential for securing external funding
Preferred Qualifications:
- Expertise in an area that contributes uniquely to our existing expertise, such as socio-environmental resilience, health/behavioral health, disaster response, medical social work, developmental differences, or family-centered approaches
- Knowledge of and experience in social work or family science research
- Knowledge of the funding process and/or success with funded research
- Teaching experience including online courses
- Experience with a variety of populations experiencing challenges
- Additional substantive expertise in intersectionality with family dynamics
Compensation:
Salary is competitive, with excellent fringe benefits, and is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Summer teaching compensation is possible for 10-month appointments.

The Kent School offers one undergraduate degree and four graduate degree programs and seeks to prepare well-qualified social workers and couple and family therapists who practice from a strong professional value base to serve the metropolitan mission of the university. The Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and Master of Science in Social Work (MSSW) degrees are offered both 100% online and on campus. The Doctor of Philosophy in Social Work (PhD) and the Master of Science in Couple and Family Therapy (MSCFT) are offered on campus and the Doctor of Social Work (DSW) degree is offered online.
