The Natural Sciences and Science Education (NSSE) Department at NIE in Singapore is committed to excellence and innovation in sciences and science education. Comprising faculty from both science content and pedagogical disciplines, we adopt an inter-disciplinary approach to teaching and research. Our science education researchers focus mainly on maximizing the potential of every child through research on students' learning approaches and problem-solving skills, and work with teachers to develop models of effective teaching and new approaches to learning. Faculty members receive research support through internal and external grants, as well as access to world-class research facilities.
The NSSE department invites applications for Tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor position in Chemistry Education.

Requirements
Successful candidates must have:
- A basic degree in chemistry or chemistry-related discipline and a PhD in education (specializing in science/chemistry education) [Candidate must have an outstanding record of publication in top-tier, peer-reviewed international science education and/or chemistry education]
- Published papers in top-tier, peer-reviewed international science education and/or chemistry education journals, and be able to teach in English
- Teaching qualifications, and it is desirable to have taught at secondary or primary (grades 1 to 12) level for at least 5 years, or have formal teaching experiences at the university and have leadership experience in school
- Post-doctoral research experience, prior experience in conducting professional development courses for educators, and conducting research in multilingual and multicultural environments are desirable
Responsibilities
Successful candidates will be expected to:
- Conceptualize, teach and grade assignments in pre-service and in-service courses in Curriculum Studies (e.g., pedagogy/methods, assessment, curriculum) of Chemistry Education and Science Education, and graduate level courses in Science Education
- Supervise student teachers in practicum attachments and course assignments, and supervise graduate (Masters and/or Doctoral) students. Involvement in course coordination will be required. Additionally, academic staff members serve on committees in NSSE/NIE/NTU and offer consultancy and professional services to schools, the Ministry of Education and other public education-related organizations on a request basis
- Develop research programmes in areas of their interest and publish in top-tier, peer-reviewed international education journals
- Compete for grants to support their research work.
