Job Description
Seeking a full-time Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) to plan, facilitate and assess ongoing psychosocial interventions for patients ages 0-18 years on an inpatient medical unit. The CCLS will address the psychosocial, emotional, and family concerns that accompany illness and injury of children and adolescents. The CCLS will utilize developmentally appropriate information, therapeutic play interventions, procedure support, emotional processing and coping strategies to improve the patients and families experience. The CCLS collaborates with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to advocate for/ensure that developmentally appropriate, emotionally safe, family-centered care is being provided to patients and families. In addition, the CCLS takes an active role in developing and maintaining resources, educational materials and psychosocial programming for patients, families and staff.
This person will work in a newly created pediatric unit within an adult hospital. To be successful, the ideal candidate will have program development experience, excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to work independently, and be well versed in emotional safety practices. A master's degree in Child Life or a bachelor's degree with Child Life experience, and a 600-hour Child Life internship are all required.

Education: High School Degree or Equivalent Work Experience: 2 years State licensure and/or professional certification requirement/s dependent on position.
