Position SummaryThe Department of Periodontology at the Indiana University School of Dentistry ( IUSD ) is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time clinical assistant professor position. This will be a 12-month appointment at either 0.80 or 1.0 FTE , with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2026, or sooner.

These characteristics and abilities are essential because the primary responsibilities of the successful candidate will include didactic and clinical instruction within the graduate periodontics program as well as for predoctoral dental students. An intramural or extramural private practice option is also available. Participation in and initiation of research efforts are strongly encouraged.

IUSD offers a dynamic learning environment for faculty, in which teaching, research, clinical care, and community service are core to our mission through our School-owned clinics and educational programs in Indianapolis and Fort Wayne, Indiana. Our main facility includes a state-of-the-art 45,000-square-foot James J. Fritts DDS Clinical Care Center on the IU-Indianapolis campus, adjacent to local hospitals and part of an urban academic health center. In 2026, we will open our newly renovated Delta Dental Special Care Clinic to enhance our ability to train oral health professionals and provide care for patients with disabilities, including those with complex craniofacial disorders and medical complexity in an interdisciplinary setting.
Basic Qualifications
ARE YOU READY TO JOIN ?Full consideration will be given to candidates who meet the following qualifications:
- DDS / BDS
- Eligibility for limited or unrestricted dental licensure and an Indiana permit for the use of IV sedation by the employment start date
- Current experience teaching within all areas noted for this position

Salary and Rank
Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Faculty practice and other revenue-generating opportunities will be considered for eligible candidates.
