Description
Position SummaryIndiana University Bloomington, the flagship campus of Indiana University and a major research-intensive university, is seeking a Clinical Faculty Professor of Arts Education. The scholar selected for the position will be at the forefront of advancing teaching and learning in Arts Education with knowledge of latest theories and research methodologies in arts education. The position is at the rank of Associate or Full Clinical Professor.
The faculty member selected will have primary responsibilities of teaching courses and directing research dissertations of students of the online Ed.D. and residential Ph.D. programs in Curriculum and Instruction - Specialization in Art Education. Additional responsibilities include overseeing and/or instructing undergraduate generalist and art education majors in the Arts Education (visual art and drama/theatre education) program.
Responsibilities include:
- Teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students and supervising doctoral research primarily in visual art education, with opportunities to work with students in performance, and media foci, and the potentiality of course and program coordination
- Cultivating a collaborative and stimulating intellectual community by forging interdisciplinary partnerships across the Department, School of Education, University and with external organizations, including K-16 schools.
- Engaging in outreach with arts educators to connect research with practice.
- Conducting and disseminating impactful research in teaching publications and professional venues.

Basic Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
We seek a forward-thinking educator, at the Associate or Full Clinical Professor level with an established record of research, and teaching that demonstrates the following qualifications:
• A Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Art Education or related field.
• A commitment to K-16 or K-12 education and sufficient expertise to work with undergraduate (preservice) and professional (in-service) teachers in Arts Education.

Preferred Qualifications
• Evidence of familiarity with contemporary theories of Arts Education such as, for example, theories of Critical Pedagogy, New Materialism, Visual Culture, and methods of Arts-based, Post Qualitative, and non-traditional forms of research.
• A robust record of writings and publications in the broad field of Arts Education pedagogy, such as visual art, performative, and/or media arts education.
• Experience directing and/or chairing doctoral-level dissertations.
• Demonstrated experience of scholarly presentations given at national and/or international conferences or congresses.
