Job DescriptionThe University of Maryland Baltimore School of Medicine, Department of Neurology, is seeking a Clinical Research Manager to manage our Core Clinical Research Team.
The Department of Neurology provides evaluation, treatment, and care for patients suffering from a wide range of neurological disorders including stroke, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), and migraine. We provide care through our inpatient and consultative services, our designated Comprehensive Stroke Center, our Level 4 Epilepsy Center, our 22-bed Neuro-Critical Care Unit, and our busy outpatient practice. The Department also provides state-of-the-art rehabilitation services. A number of departmental faculty received grant funding from the National Institutes of Health and the Veteran's Administration to study the role of genetics in stroke, epilepsy, and Parkinson's disease, new brain imaging modalities in multiple sclerosis, biomarkers in multiple sclerosis, and neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism and intellectual disability. Many faculty are lead investigators in clinical trials to identify new therapeutic approaches for a broad range of neurological disorders.
This position will be responsible for managing the operations of our clinical research core program and providing administrative and technical support to the research activities. The selected candidate will manage clinical research staff including training, scheduling, coordinating and delegating work, monitoring and evaluating performance to promote overall functional productivity. This position will manage clinical research operations including the budget, ensuring quality control and safety compliance, developing policies and procedures as well as identifying and addressing issues and deficiencies and implements effective solutions. Our Core Clinical Research Group performs research of a clinical nature across divisions in the Department of Neurology and is responsible for providing the highest technical expertise to research programs, studies and/or projects and overseeing clinical research activities.

PRIMARY DUTIES
- Manage clinical research staff including training, scheduling, coordinating and delegating work, monitoring and evaluating performance to promote maximum staff member benefit and effectiveness as well as overall functional productivity.
- Develop and manage the development and execution of program research studies. Revise studies, in consultation with upper management or principal investigator, to meet changing needs and requirements and enforces standards.
- Manage clinical research operations including the budget, ensuring quality control and safety compliance, developing policies and procedures, and ordering supplies. Identify and address issues and deficiencies and implements effective solutions.
- Assemble and prepare literature research, editing and preparing manuscripts, scientific illustrations and computer graphics for publication.
- Provide for establishment or development of facility by evaluating equipment or machinery to be ordered, planning interactions with IT systems, and drafting Standard Operating Procedures for using new equipment.
- Foster and support a consultant/client environment, providing business unit and campus representatives with assessment, training, and advisement in research area.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Bachelor's degree in scientific field of study related to the research of the clinical setting.
- Experience: Six (6) years experience in clinical research including four (4) years in the relevant research specialization
- Supervisory Experience: Two (2) years of direct supervision or responsibility for training, work coordination, and monitoring the work of others.
- Certification/Licensure: N/A
- Other: Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 undergraduate college credits being equivalent to one year of related experience. In instances where specific education and/or experience is required only directly related education and/or experience may be substituted.

HIRING RANGE: $91,000 - $101,000 per year / Commensurate with education and experience
