Description
The University of Iowa, College of Dentistry is conducting a search for the Department Executive Officer (DEO)/Chair for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS). This is a full-time clinical or tenure-track faculty position at the full Professor level. This position reports to the Dean of the College of Dentistry w/additional accountability to the CEO of UI Healthcare (UIHC). The successful candidate will oversee multiple units across two divisions - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at the College of Dentistry and Hospital Dentistry (OMFS/Max Prosth) at UIHC, requiring expertise in managing separate budgets, faculty/staff, and accreditation processes.
Requirements
Applicants must have:
DDS/DMD from a CODA/CDAC-accredited institution.
Certificate or Masters in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery from a CODA/CDAC-accredited institution.
Board Certification by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS).
Academic rank at Associate or Full Professor.
Sustained record of teaching, professional productivity, and service.
Relevant administrative and budget management experience.
Professional experience working effectively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives.
HIGHLY Desirable qualifications:
National recognition by a surgical society (e.g., ACS, FACS designation).
Experience advancing nationally renowned education programs and collaborative research.
Experience as a Graduate Program Director or equivalent.
Demonstrated high-level clinical productivity.
Surgical expertise in craniomaxillofacial surgery.
Significant experience with accreditation (CODA/JCAHO).
Desirable qualifications:
Experience in all areas of academic healthcare institution - teaching, patient care, research, and service.
Participation in national Oral Surgery Organizations (e.g. AAOMS or ABOMS).
Successful candidates will be required to self-disclose any misconduct history or pending research misconduct investigation including but not limited to sexual misconduct in prior employment and provide a related release and will be subject to a criminal background and credential check.
