Job DescriptionUniversity of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) is currently seeking an EVENING SHIFT Environmental Services (EVS) Custodial Manager to join Department of Facilities Operations. The work schedule for evening shift are Monday to Friday, 2:30pm to 11pm .

PRIMARY DUTIES
- Evaluates, trains, coaches and schedules staff as needed. Participates in the hiring process and delivers progressive disciplinary action when required.
- Evaluates unanticipated and emergency service needs that arise during shift, determines level of action.
- Provides visual inspection and service quality assurance in areas of responsibility. Monitors work in progress and ensures compliance with projected results, service delivery schedules and standards.
- Communicates and coordinates with customers, peers and other organization units as necessary to deliver the custodial program and to support the success of other programs.
- Supervises the daily operation of evening EVS Techs and assigns duties in a designated area to ensure cleanliness and orderly condition.
- Serves as working supervisor to meet the demands and needs of the situation. Acts in the capacity of the Shift Manager in their absence.
- Prepares reports and makes recommendations to improve the quality of services, cost control, and customer and employee satisfaction.
- Oversees and recommends changes to the internal operating procedures.
- Ensures all custodial functions are delivered efficiently and effectively for assigned area.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High school diploma or GED
Experience: Six (6) years of progressively responsible related experience on a scale similar to the requirements of the job is required
Supervisory Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience
Other: May consider a combination of directly related experience and education
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
Knowledge of position requirements. Knowledge of all applicable requirements, regulations, and laws. Skill in effective use of applicable technology/systems. Ability to effectively communicate both verbal and written thoughts, ideas, and facts. Ability to work cooperatively with others and independently. Ability to demonstrate, understand, apply, and adhere to the UMB Core Values of Respect and Integrity, Well-being and Sustainability, Equity and Justice, and Innovation and Discovery.
HIRING RANGE: $63,000 - $68,000 per year (Commensurate with education and experience)
