Description
The Applied Research Center (ARC) addresses the nation's national security challenges by uniting government and military stakeholders, Defense Industrial Base (DIB) partners, and academic experts in one collaborative, secure environment.Job Summary
The Facility Manager serves as the primary point of contact for all facility-related functions at the Applied Research Center (ARC). This highly visible role provides direct operational, logistical, and safety oversight of the ARC facility, supporting leadership, faculty, and partners.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Serves as the primary point of contact for all facility-related issues at the Applied Research Center (ARC).
- Ensures comprehensive building security coverage by maintaining full staffing across all designated security posts.
- Serves as the primary ARC point of contact for all facility-related support for events hosted at the building.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Responsible for managing secure environments, coordinating building systems, and ensuring that the infrastructure enables the successful execution of ARC's research mission.
- Manages building operations and maintenance such as maintenance planning, security/access control, and emergency response. Coordinates fire and life safety, environmental safety procedures, and planning with university personnel and external agencies where required.
- Performs periodic scheduled and ad hoc inspections to identify cleaning and property maintenance needs.
- Prepares estimates for repairs and ensures building maintenance falls within allocated budget with an emphasis on cost-containment.
- Participates in all aspects of project development, budget, implementation, and completion.
- Participates in an on-call rotation to cover emergency situations.
- Coordinates fulfillment of work orders for corrective action and routine maintenance; monitors progress, escalating complex matters as needed.
- May provide guidance to non-exempt Licensed and Skilled Trades staff.

EDUCATION
Required
- Bachelor's degree in facilities management, project management, business operations, or related field
Preferred
- Some experience in facilities management, project management, business operations, or related field
Required
- Security Clearance: Must be able to hold a TS/SCI security clearance

Working Conditions / Demands
This role regularly requires the ability to effectively communicate. This role frequently requires the ability to handle equipment. This role frequently requires the ability to remain stationary and ascend/descend ladders/stairs. This role requires the ability to move objects weighing up to 25 pounds. The role requires the ability to detect items in close proximity as well as far away; discern between colors; detect objects in peripheral space of self; discern items in detail; and to have good depth perception. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
