The Lilly Family School of Philanthropy is the world's 1st school dedicated solely to the study and teaching of philanthropy. In addition to our outstanding academic programs, we offer extensive resources and learning opportunities to professionals already working in the field through The Fund Raising School. Our Professional Doctorate in Philanthropic Leadership (PhilD) is the world's 1st professional doctorate for philanthropic and nonprofit professionals.The impact of our research on the field of philanthropy is unparalleled. Our research faculty partners with organizations around the region and the nation to analyze the dynamics of change defining the philanthropic landscape. We are home to institutes that explore what inspires underrepresented people and women to give, as well as the connections between faith and philanthropy.
Indiana University (IU) has been at the vanguard of philanthropy education since the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University was founded at IU Indianapolis in 1987. Led by the center, IU established the field of philanthropic studies with the nation's 1st bachelor's, master's, and Ph.D. degrees, as well as the nation's 1st endowed chair in philanthropy.
Job Summary
This position supports our Research department.
General Responsibilities
- Leads or assists in development of plans and protocols
- Provides professional support to research programs and projects in moderately complex cases
- Responsible for equipment, materials, labor and support of operations
- Performs cost analyses and recommends budgets
- Records, processes, analyzes, interprets, and presents data
- Provides routine professional support of protocols/plans, documentation, observation, and data collection
- Designs, interprets, and creates grant proposals and publications
- Develops or assists in complex project proposals, plans, and protocols
- Conducts non-routine experiments, investigations, and/or studies related to programs and projects in pursuit of new knowledge, techniques, and concepts with limited supervision
- Collects and analyzes data/samples related to others' research and in complex cases
- Records, compiles, processes, and analyzes data/samples
- Documents results and observations in writing as well as presenting results to others
- May pursue external funding as principal investigator (PI) and/or Co-PI or Co-Investigator, leading or co-leading contribution to the dissemination of findings or knowledge, including, but not limited to, public access such as on-line and through exhibits, peer-reviewed reports and publications, and presentation at meetings

EDUCATION
Required
- Bachelor's degree in research or a related field
- Master's degree in related field
Required
- 10 years of relevant experience
- 10 years of progressively responsible experience leading applied research and/or monitoring, evaluation, and learning initiatives in philanthropic, government, or nonprofit settings
- Extensive international experience leading applied research and learning initiatives in partnership with local institutions, donors, and governments
- Experience collaborating across international academic, government, philanthropic, and practitioner communities to co-create research agendas or synthesize evidence for application
- Experience translating complex research and data into accessible publications, briefings, and learning products for diverse audiences

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule (mix between remote and in-person work), subject to change in the future based on university policy and business needs.
Advertised Salary
$80,000 - $85,000 per year
