Summary

The General Maintenance Worker I supports campus services with the handling of furniture, equipment, and material relocations and the collection and transport of various recyclables to include but not limited to paper, plastics, cardboard, and electronic items. This position works with Assistant Supervisor of Support Services to coordinate the most efficient and effective routes to services the Tulane Community.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• A valid and unrestricted U.S. Driver's license (not including corrective lens needs) and must meet the Tulane University Motor Vehicle Policy criteria to become authorized as a driver.
• Ability to receive and give oral, written, and diagramed instructions.

• Ability to lift 60 lbs.• Working knowledge of safety practices related to operation and handling of large commercial vehicles, recycling equipment and material handling.

• Ability to work independently and ability to comprehend and carry out orders and specifications of supervisor.

• Ability and willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

Required Education and/or Experience

• High School Diploma or Equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

• Commercial Driver's License
