Job Purpose:
Gonzaga University's Office of Sponsored Research and Programs is seeking a Grant and Contract Officer Il to join a team that provides support services to faculty and staff that include all facets of research administration, from conducting funding searches to ideation through proposal submission. The Grant and Contract Officer II position will report to the Director of Sponsored Research and Programs and is responsible for the management of a comprehensive pre-and post- award portfolio. This includes developing applications, conducting ongoing compliance review to ensure accountability to sponsors, and submitting grants, contracts, and cooperative agreements to foundations, corporations, and government agencies to support research, fellowships, instructional activities, and service programs. Working in collaboration with faculty, deans, finance, and other relevant stakeholders, this position is a key resource when identifying and resolving issues that arise throughout the life cycle of an award. This position will serve as the primary point of contact for communication with faculty, university departments, and sponsors, encouraging collaboration while delivering a high level of customer service and well-rounded support. A significant portion of the position will be to engage, support, and assist faculty in the discovery of grant opportunities and proposal development. The Grant and Contract Officer Il will be involved in faculty professional development and will provide training, information, and guidance to faculty at all career stages, including mentoring faculty through the entire research development process.
Essential Functions:
- 50% - Pre-Award Functions
- Guides faculty and staff in the search for funding opportunities, development and preparation of research proposal submissions, contracts, agreements, and subcontracts.
- Manages all pre-award submission activities.
- Mentors faculty through the entire grant proposal development process.
- Responsible for all pre-award activities including compliance review of relevant regulations, proposal guidelines and award terms and conditions.
- 50% - Post-Award Functions
- Reviews, negotiates or rejects awards as appropriate.
- Manages a complex portfolio, including financial and technical reporting requirements, risk mitigation, problem resolution, etc.
- Provides guidance on all sponsored research issues, taking a proactive approach.
- Reviews financial and technical reporting requirements.
- Provide high-level oversight of sponsored research, including reporting and reconciliation.
- Additional Duties as Assigned by the Department
Educational Requirement:
Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Experience
Years of Related Experience Requirement:
5 years
In lieu of the educational qualifications, candidates may qualify with equivalent professional experience at a ratio of one year of experience for each year of required education.

• Experience with pre- or post- award responsibilities
Preferred Qualifications:
• Demonstrated knowledge of current trends in research, specifically related to research within STEM, Health Sciences, Business or Humanities disciplines and those related to fostering interdepartmental and interdisciplinary research teams.
• Experience with grant management software and database management.
• Experience serving as an Authorized Organizational Representative (AOF).
• Certified Research Administrator (CRA) certification.
• Master's degree in the Sciences, Engineering or Health Sciences preferred.

The budgeted salary range that the University reasonably expects to offer for this position: $76,720 - $80,720
Pay Range:
Minimum Salary (Annualized 12 months and 40 hours/week): 76720
Midpoint Salary (Annualized 12 months and 40 hours/week): 95900
Maximum Salary (Annualized 12 months and 40 hours/week): 115080
