Description
SummaryProvides support for proposal development and submission for the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. This includes working on behalf of faculty and students for all proposals to federal agencies, foundations and other grantmaking entities. Works closely with investigators to prepare budgets. Works closely with PI's on timeline management. Prepares necessary paperwork and where appropriate, negotiates with the funding sources. Prepares monthly summary reports for the department chair and administrator on numbers of proposals submitted, status of previously submitted proposals, and awards received. This position also supports select departmental office operations with any research related tasks including supply ordering and Visa applications. Works closely with Sponsored Projects Administration and Grants and Contracts Accounting.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Demonstrated knowledge of research proposals or related types of activities
• High level of proficiency with spreadsheet and database software, as well as Windows environment and all components of Microsoft Office suite, including Excel
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
• Ability to proactively work independently, and focus on the given assignment, and complete the assignments
• Ability to coordinate and work well as part of a diverse team
• Ability to maintain confidentiality in all work performed
• Excellent written and verbal communication
Required Education and/or Experience
• Bachelor's Degree with 3 years directly related work experience
OR
• High School Diploma or equivalent with 9 years directly related work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in preparing budgets
