Position Description:
The University of Louisville International Affairs Office is seeking to hire an International Student Specialist III. Under the general supervision of the Associate Vice Provost for International Affairs , the International Student Specialist III is responsible for supporting the University's internationalization efforts including its international recruitment strategy, with the primary focus of growing international undergraduate enrollment, and growth in study abroad. The position is the initial point of contact for many prospective students, applicants, overseas agents, and Terra Dotta. The position requires a great deal of collaboration and information sharing with stakeholders across campus.
The International Student Specialist will collect and share data with the Office of Admissions, the Graduate School, Housing, Scholarships and Financial Aid, the Bursar's Office, the Office of Academic Programs and Assessment (OAPA), academic advisors, and other stakeholders across campus. The International Student Specialist will be the International Center's primary point of contact for prospective international students and serve as the institution's primary liaison with Terra Dotta.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Stay current on UofL programs (degrees, certificates, etc.), global recruitment trends, and geopolitical realities to assist colleagues with developing cogent and feasible international recruitment plans.
- Build and maintain International Affairs dashboards in Terra Dotta for a for a wide range of internal and external audiences.
- Monitor graduate and undergraduate referral queries from SLATE, ensuring all profiles are properly migrated into Terra Dotta.
- Create all Initial and Transfer I-20s, including deferrals.
- Develop and conduct training for agencies, focusing on the international admissions process and requirements, and providing information about orientation and pre-arrival information, including orientation dates, airport pick-up, housing, and other pre-arrival information.
- Contribute data to a quarterly newsletter for all International Center constituents.
- Participate in international recruitment fairs (both in-person and virtually), as assigned.
- Complete annual Study Abroad, International Student, and Scholar Open Doors reports.
- Prepare international student census reports each semester.
- Prepare customized reports for Oxford International Education Group (OIEG).
- Ensure the veracity and consistency of data across four different data platforms (SLATE, PeopleSoft, Terra Dotta, and SEVIS).
- Follow-up with prospective student and applicant inquiries in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across campus to develop and implement a communication plan for prospective students (and their families/sponsors) and maintain effective communication throughout the recruitment and application process.
- Advise admitted students on the visa application process and documentation required for a visa application.
- Collaborate with ISSS staff to design and deliver a comprehensive international student orientation and other cultural adjustment initiatives.
- Serve on University committees as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree and five years of related experience.
- Demonstrated experience with technology (PeopleSoft, social media, MS 360, SLATE-CRM, Workday, Terra Dotta, and other platforms.
- Ability to travel, as needed.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends, as needed.
- Ability to contribute to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment.
- Experience within international education and the recruitment of international students; specifically for an international office or in a college or university setting.
- Experience living and working abroad.
- Experience working in international admissions or in an international student services capacity.
- Experience working in the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS).
- Experience with CRMs and marketing.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced setting
- Proficiency in a foreign language

- Demonstrates collegiality, impartiality, and effective collaboration within the International Center team.
This is an in-person position, with the typical working hours to be 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday.
