Requires technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, a 2-year degree, or professional certificate. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications Position Summary
The Operations and Maintenance Department is responsible for structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing building operations and systems that includes, preventative maintenance, routine and corrective maintenance repairs and renovations. This is a fast-paced functioning and responsible position and the successful candidate must be able to interface well with the operation and maintenance teams. Candidate will be responsible for day-to-day procurement and sourcing of parts and materials needed to support the nine mechanical, two structural, and seven zone shops. The candidate will determine the best practical methods for sourcing parts and materials and assist in the selecting of vendors for procuring materials through current shop inventory, purchase orders, payment requests, and/or P-Card. Candidate will need to become very familiar with understanding the unique shop needs and purchasing methods at UGA and will serve as an administrative shop support role for various shops within Operations and Maintenance.

- Possess strong organizational skills, the ability to work independently, multitask and prioritize.
- Will establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff members in a team environment.
- Ability to provide customer service in a positive & proactive manner.
- Computer skills including Word processing, Excel spread sheet software usage, data entry, and usage of email.
- Knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems (AiM).
- Competent in identifying mechanical components and their use for HVAC, Plumbing & Electrical.
- Sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods.
- Occasional lifting and transporting of material orders.
- Driving as needed to perform job related duties and/or deliveries.

- Solicit prices, specifications, and delivery dates to determine the best vendor to use in
UGAmart. - Competent in identifying mechanical components and their use for HVAC, Plumbing, & Electrical.
- Keeps current on University procurement rules and regulations.
- Prepare, maintain, and review purchasing files, reports and price lists.
- Respond to staff and vendor inquiries about order status, changes, or cancellations.
- Replenish shop stocked inventory for shops as needed and inventory control.
- Create a receipt for items received on purchase orders.
- Interacts daily with O&M staff, FMD Business Office and UGA Procurement Office.
- Will learn and cross-train alongside other members of the purchasing and materials resource team.
- Compile data and prepare work related documents to share with shop managers.
Serves as administrative shop support for entering daily time, adding notes and closing
work orders.
