DescriptionFor over 30 years, the Southern Region Early Childhood Programs have provided high-quality early childhood programming to children and families. Continuing their mission to work as a comprehensive team with families, school districts, and communities, the Preschool for All Program is seeking talented individuals for the position of Lead Teacher.
The Preschool for All Lead Teacher position is a non-tenure-track, term faculty appointment. This is a full-time position with reappointment based on the needs of the program, availability of funding, and the employee's performance.

The target salary offer for this position is $33,750.00 - $35,100.00 annually at full time. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity.
Examples of Duties
The Preschool For All Lead Teacher plans and implements developmentally appropriate activities for the children in the prekindergarten classroom, maintains a system of performance assessment through ongoing observations and collection of portfolio information to reflect the development of each child, encourages and supports parent participation, participates in Child Find screenings to determine enrollment eligibility of children, collaborates with school district personnel and outside agencies, and performs other duties as needed and assigned. The Preschool for All Lead Teacher, Assistant Teacher, and Parent Educator work together as a team to recruit families and screen children for enrollment and to provide transition and support experiences for children and families as they prepare for kindergarten. Together, the Lead Teacher, Assistant Teacher, and Parent Educator create a fun and engaging learning environment for the children. This position requires physical management and care of preschool children and travel to the work site, as well as other off-campus locations.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- Active Illinois State Board of Education Professional Educator License (PEL) with an endorsement in Early childhood Education; or a letter from the Illinois State Board of Education stating the Illinois State Board of Education Professional Educator License (PEL) with an endorsement in Early Childhood Education will be issued by the date of hire; or the Illinois Professional Development System Gateways of Opportunity Early Childhood Credential Level 5 with a written plan to complete the PEL with an endorsement in Early Childhood Education by June 30, 2027, as required by the Illinois State Board of Education.
- Experience working in a Preschool or Kindergarten classroom setting
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in early childhood education, Child Development, Child and Family Services, Elementary Education, Social Work, Psychology, or other related field of study is preferred.
- Early Childhood Special Education Endorsement • Bilingual Education Endorsement
- Ability to speak and write in Spanish
- Experience using Creative Curriculum • Experience using the Early Learning Scale, TS Gold, or other ISBE-approved assessment • DCFS licensing experience-working in a position implementing the regulations
- Supervision of early childhood interns and practicum students
- Experience working with diverse populations of families with young children
