SummaryThe Advance Nurse Practitioner (APRN) is part of the Tulane University Campus Health team of committed professionals dedicated to supporting and promoting student health and wellbeing as a core institutional value through a multidisciplinary, comprehensive approach. The APRN position resides within The Health Center for Student Care, and reports to the Medical Director. The individual in this position uses evidence-based knowledge and skills to conduct physical assessments to perform various procedures and provides a broad range of health care services to women in the outpatient setting. The GYN-Nurse Practitioner collaborates with multiple primary care providers as well as referral specialists throughout the community. The position requires being able to perform preventative health assessments, screenings, contraceptive management, immunizations, education, and counseling to patients and family member, if indicated.
The APRN is a part of the medical team that provides health care services to the student population at Tulane University. The practitioner will provide medical assessments and exams, health education/literacy, referrals, and health screenings in a wide variety of clinic settings. The Health Center for Student Care operates clinical service to students through primary care, women's health, and men's health clinics. This individual will be a part of the Health Center provider group and attend regular meetings, participate in peer review projects, grand rounds, and will be involved in community engagement activities. As part of a multidisciplinary team, this person will demonstrate qualities of effective leadership, communication, and professionalism.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Ability to utilize electronic health records and computerized medical programs. Maintains accurate and up-to-date medical records, including charting for billing components
• Demonstrates clinical competence in providing out-patient procedures including but not limited to: Long Acting Removable contraception (IUD, Nexplanon), Pap smears, birth control counseling/prescribing, diagnosis of common gynecologic conditions.
• Knowledge and ability to counsel with patients on medical and/or psychological problems, preventive care. Refers patients for medical and/or other treatment when appropriate or indicated.
• Ability to consult with outside clinical providers and public health agencies in securing treatments for patients requiring services beyond those available at the Tulane Student Health Centers.
• Ability in all care, ensures compliance with regulatory and legal requirements.
• Ability to maintain professional affiliations, licenses, certifications, etc. Stays current on developments in the field of medicine and college health.
• Skills in providing exemplary patient care and customer service including maintaining confidentiality and being reliably available to patients when they seek care or advice
Required Education and/or Experience
• Master's degree.
• Completion of an ANA-approved Nurse Practitioner program with either an AANC or AANP certification.
• Licensure as a Nurse Practitioner from the Louisiana State Board of Nursing by the date of hire.
• One-year experience in a clinical outpatient setting.
Preferred Qualifications
• More than three years' experience in a clinic outpatient setting.
• Knowledge of colposcopy
• 1-year experience in a Primary Care setting.
• 1-year College health experience
• Knowledge and competency to supervise health profession students and trainees.
• Maintain current clinical knowledge on health-related topics.
