Salary Grade: Hourly (maximum of 24 hours per week, Monday-Friday set schedule will be determined)

About This Role
Are you organized, reliable, and looking for a part-time role in a professional and supportive college environment? The School of Humanities and Social Sciences Department at Hudson County Community College is seeking a detail-oriented Part-time Office Assistant to support our department's daily operations. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys administrative work, values consistency, and takes pride in clear communication and follow-through.
What Youll Do:
- Answer phones and direct inquiries with professionalism and courtesy
- Greet and assist visitors, students, and faculty in person, by phone, or via email
- Opportunity to participate in School of Humanities and Social Sciences events.
- Draft and edit emails, written materials, and correspondence
- Maintain organized digital filing systems
- Perform general office tasks such as data entry, copying, and document preparation
- Responsible for preparing adjunct faculty contracts each semester, including calculating compensation based on credit hours
- Maintain a consistent and dependable work schedule
- Perform additional duties as assigned to meet the office's goals.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask
- Experience working with culturally diverse student populations is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Flexibility to work in-person at either the North Hudson or Journal Square campus; variable
- Hours, including evenings and weekends, may be requested. During peak times, additional hours may be available.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Strong attention to detail - accuracy is essential
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- High school diploma required; Associate degree or junior status preferred.
- Bilingual in Spanish/Arabic (Preferred)
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently through task completion.
- Comfortable using standard office software, Learning Management System (CANVAS), and equipment
- Dependable and committed to maintaining a consistent schedule
- Professional phone etiquette and interpersonal skills
