Description
Parking Operations oversees the issuance of parking permits, enforcement of parking regulations, parking facility maintenance, and funding of all existing or new campus parking lots and garages. Parking interacts daily with students, faculty and staff, departments, vendors, visitors, and the community as they conduct activity on the IU Bloomington campus. - Under supervision and direction of the Parking Facilities Coordinator, performs inspections and minor technical work by repairing, troubleshooting, and performing preventive maintenance on parking-related instruments and equipment.
- Maintains all relevant data entry and equipment logs.
- Provides high-quality customer service to all visitors.
- May assist Parking Enforcement support staff in most enforcement duties as needed including, but not limited to, data entry, special events parking, patrolling assigned areas of campus for parking violations, and resolving violations by issuing parking citations.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED)
Preferred
- Prior customer service experience
- Familiarity with computers and office productivity apps, including MS Office/365 and MS Teams
- Basic electronic understanding and experience
Required
- Valid driver's license and ability to be insured by Indiana University upon date of hire
Required
- Strong customer service and communication skills (verbal and written)
- Use of basic hand tools
- Capable of learning new software skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision
- Ability to make decisions and problem solve in the field
Working Conditions / Demands
This position involves sedentary work as well as long periods of time standing, walking, driving. This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The person in this role must be able to move items up to 50 pounds, often 20-30 pounds. The position requires working outdoors in all types of weather conditions, including some long periods of exposure to hot and cold temperatures. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Advertised Salary
$15.00 per hour
Work Hours
28 hours per week - Hours can vary during the academic year
Monday to Thursday, 5 p.m. to 12 a.m. (August to May)
Office hours are greatly reduced or canceled during summer, semester breaks, and when classes are not in session. Shifts may be adjusted, reduced, or canceled according to garage facilities operating needs.
