Preferred Qualifications Position Summary
Under the direction of the Porcelain and Decorative Arts Museum Curator, museum assistants at the Garden are involved in customer service, facilities management, and museum functions such as engaging with visitors, monitoring the building and collections, and assisting the curator with research and other activities.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
- Demonstrate good interpersonal skills, enjoy engaging with the public, are dependable, and have an interest in museums and/or art. T
- Demonstrate the ability to use sound judgement and reasoning skills and have a good work ethic. Possess well-developed research and writing skills.
- Ability to lift 10+ pounds
- Driving guests in golf carts if needed

Duties/Responsibilities
Duties/Responsibilities
- Greeting and engaging with visitors at the welcome desk
- Monitors buildings during work orders, special installations, and event preparation.
- Make sure buildings and art are treated with care and protected
- Working with museum volunteer docents to create a welcoming and educational environment
Percentage of time 70 Duties/Responsibilities
- Creating education materials for the museum
- Researching the collection to create well-developed files on museum objects
Percentage of time 20 Duties/Responsibilities
- Assisting the curator with other various activities, including cleaning of objects and object handling
- Driving guests in golf carts if needed
