Position SummaryThe department of Biology is a large, unified department with strong undergraduate degrees, nationally-ranked graduate programs, and world-class research spanning the breadth of biological questions and experimental systems - from ecosystems to microbiology and developmental biology, from evolution to cell biology, from molecular biology to systems biology, bioinformatics, and genomics. It is always an exciting time for Biology - enormous advances in global genome analysis coupled with unprecedented developments in interdisciplinary research have made the 21st century the Century of Biology. The Saltz Lab at Indiana University (www.saltzlab.com) seeks to hire a Postdoctoral Fellow co-develop an exciting research project that will improve our understanding of behavioral evolution, using fruit flies as a model system. The successful applicant will join a vibrant and cooperative lab group using behavioral experiments to uncover the quantitative and evolutionary genetics of social behaviors and social dynamics (and sometimes other stuff).
Basic Qualifications
Qualifications: A Ph.D. in biology, psychology, animal behavior or related field and experience conducting behavioral experiments (in any species) is required. Strong skills in complex statistical analysis is preferred but not required. The successful candidate should have demonstrated skills relevant to the project and experience working with graduate and undergraduate students in a collaborative research environment.
Timing and Compensation: Best consideration for those applying prior to December 1, 2025. Review of applicants continues until the position is filled. The ideal start date would be during the spring semester (January - May) 2026. The initial appointment is for one year, with reappointment for up to three years contingent upon performance. Salary will be commensurate with experience, and full benefits are included.
