Position Description:
The University Housing and the Resident Experience (UHRE) department within the Division of Student Affairs at the University of Louisville is seeking to hire a Resident Experience Coordinator II (Area Coordinator). The Resident Experience Coordinator is responsible for the management of at least two residence halls consisting of over 400 beds each. They process all disciplinary actions within the residence halls in their purview, advise a neighborhood council, coordinate the selection and training of student staff in their area, and supervise over 20 Resident Assistants (RAs) and 20-25 desk staff. The Resident Experience Coordinator serves in an on-call staff rotation for crisis management and on various university and departmental committees.
The Resident Experience Coordinator is a member of the University Housing and the Resident Experience (UHRE) team and attends all staff meetings and development sessions. They oversee programming in their assigned residence halls using the Residential Curriculum, maintaining an environment that fosters student learning and success, and they implement student development theory in all aspects of the position. During the summer term, the Resident Experience Coordinator completes tasks to assist in managing the summer term residents and summer conference programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Residence Hall Management
- Oversee residence life operations (program management) in area residence halls including 1st and 2nd tier conduct cases and policy enforcement
- Collaborates with facilities staff to ensure buildings are well-maintained and clean
- Advises area hall council
Staff Supervision
- Works directly with area hall assistants to ensure student success
- Supervises 20+ resident assistants (RAs) and 20-25 desk assistants inclusive of assisting with staff recruitment, selection, and training
- Organizes staff meetings and meets operational scheduling needs
Community development
- Implements the Resident Curriculum using campus partners and student staff inclusive of managing programs, maintaining bulletin boards, conducting Cardinal Conversations, and assisting with Cardinal Connections
- Advises hall neighborhood councils
On-call and crisis management
- Serves in a 2nd tier campus on-call rotation; manages emergencies to keep communities and community members safe
Other Responsibilities
- Serves on departmental and University committees and supports departmental events
- Execute assigned summer responsibilities with Summer Operations unit
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in college student personnel, higher education administration, or a related field
- At least two (2) years of full-time or part-time experience in a campus housing role
Work Hours and Location
This is a full-time, non-exempt position with a 37.5-hour regular workweek. Additional work hours may be required based on department needs, programming, staffing, and/or scheduling. The primary work location for this position is at the Belknap Campus.
