Description
SummaryThe Scientific Research Analyst III will oversee and manage domestic and international grants, contracts, and accounts for Dr. Troy Moon. The Scientific Research Analyst III is responsible for all aspects of data analysis, including cleaning, organizing, managing, and monitoring data as well as composition of tables and figures to convey results. The Scientific Research Analyst III is responsible for writing reports, designing presentations and summarizing the findings from analysis. Analyst will liaise with RASU in all pre-award activities for Dr. Moon including pre-award and post award activities such as budget development, account T&E reconciliations, P-Card reconciliations, purchasing, invoicing, and budget oversight, compliance, assists with development of works for publication from study results, as well as compilation of any other research-related activities deemed necessary by the principal investigators for the success of the research projects. The candidate for this position will also maintain close working relationships with international collaborating institutions in Mozambique and Sierra Leone, providing oversight to funds spent in country as well as facilitating capacity building activities for those institutions in relation to U.S government funding requirements, oversight, and compliance.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Accounting or project management experience in an academic setting
• Proficiency of statistical software applications
• Proficiency in both quantitative and qualitative research methods
• Ability to effectively manage large and/or complex datasets
• Highly proficient data research, analysis and model development skills
• Ability to adapt and respond immediately to specific needs of the projects
• Ability to produce tables and figures to best illustrate and convey results to various audiences
• Great attention to detail, excellent oral and written communication skills; excellent manuscript writing skills
• Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to multi-task and prioritize work and assignments, problem-solving skills• Ability to work well independently and demonstrate proficient problem-solving skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain good working relationships
• Ability to maintain confidentiality in all work performed
REQUIRED BACKGROUND CHECK, PHYSICAL, AND DRUG SCREENING FOR INCUMBENTS WHO HAVE CONTACT OR EXPOSURE TO ANIMALS OR ANIMAL TISSUES:
Selected candidates must complete and pass a background check and an occupational health screening as a condition of employment. For identified jobs, a drug screening will also be required. The background investigation, required occupational health screening, and any required drug screening will be conducted after a conditional employment offer has been extended.
Required Education and/or Experience
• Advanced Degree (master's or higher) or experience in public health research, education, and/or health care
Preferred Qualifications
• Minimum 2-years on the ground experience in Africa and preferably a Portuguese speaking African country
• 2-year experience within an academic setting
• Minimum 2-years of experience implementing research in international settings and preferably low-resource settings
• Experience in working with Excel and financial budgeting
• Fluency in both written and spoken English and Portuguese
