 Position: Created by the Oregon legislature to meet the workforce needs of the state, the PSU School of Social Work has evolved into a dynamic national leader of social change. The School provides accessible interdisciplinary educational opportunities and actively works to bring about structural change through its teaching, training, workforce development, research, and advocacy. Programs & Research: The School offers two bachelor degree programs, in Child, Youth, and Family Studies and in Social Work. The School also offers two graduate degree programs, the Master of Social Work (campus, distance, and online options) and Ph.D. in Social Work and Social Research. The BSW and MSW degree programs are fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. Approximately 33 full-time and 55 part-time faculty provide instruction for our campus, distance, and online options. Our undergraduate enrollment is approximately 350, and graduate enrollment is 600+ students. The PSU School of Social Work is also home to significant research, training, and public service programming. Faculty, staff, and students in the School of Social Work conduct over $10 million annually of applied social science research and training. The PSU School of Social Work ranked first in the nation in terms of annual sponsored project expenditures in the 2016 NSF Higher Education Research and Development Expenditure Survey. The School hosts a broad range of research and sponsored projects from large-scale federal grants to state contracts to smaller community-based evaluations. The faculty's research initiatives have attracted support from some of the nation's most respected funders, such as Health Resources and Service Administration, National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation, U.S. Department of Justice, W. T. Grant Foundation, and Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Most grant-supported projects are managed within one of the affiliated research units:

| Position Summary | The Dean's office oversees the operation of the School of Social Work (SSW) at Portland State University, with graduate, undergraduate and PhD programs along with a large research and sponsored projects unit. The Senior Fiscal Officer (SFO) manages the operations, financial planning, human resources and fiscal activities of the School. This is a 12-month, unclassified and unrepresented position, and reports to the Dean of the School. This position directly supervises classified and unclassified staff and has dotted line relationships with fiscal and administrative staff within the SSW research and sponsored projects units. Financial Management Responsible for forecasting, budget development, allocation, accounting reporting and monitoring School resources which comprise state funds, tuition dollars, fees, grants and contracts, and foundation funds. Human Resources Responsible for supervising classified and unclassified staff, preparing hiring contracts, overseeing HR functions for the School and providing guidance on recruitment, evaluations, and policies and procedures. Operations Responsible for operations management including space and equipment. Update policies and procedures for continuous improvement in the School. Leadership Provide leadership around strategic planning activities at the program, School, and university levels. Represent the School on numerous university committees and initiatives regarding finance, administration, human resources and research activities. |

| Total Compensation Range & Benefits Statement | PSU has a structured process for determining starting compensation, taking into account years of related experience, applicable skills, knowledge and abilities, market parity, and internal equity.  The starting annual salary for this position will be $96,468 but may be negotiated above this rate, dependent upon the factors above, the budget of the hiring department, and approval from HR. An excellent benefits package includes 95% premium paid healthcare; a generous retirement and vacation package; and reduced tuition rates for employee, spouse or dependent at any of the Oregon University System schools.
