Description
The Indiana University (IU) Lilly Family School of Philanthropy is not only the world's 1st school of philanthropy, but also home to The Fund Raising School, an executive education arm that provides best-in-class professional development for fundraisers worldwide.When a donor makes a gift to Indiana University's Lilly Family School of Philanthropy, they are expecting an exceptional experience from the institution that educated them on donor stewardship.
The school's donors include members of its Board of Visitors and Alumni Board.
We are searching for a Stewardship Coordinator to help us ensure our donors continue to feel validated, informed, and stewarded in their current gifts.
Job Summary
This role will play a key role in advancing the engagement of board members in addition to the donors in its Giving Societies. This role, in partnership with colleagues, will think creatively to ensure the school's donors have a meaningful giving experience.
General Responsibilities
- Supports the university's stewardship efforts to ensure adherence to donor intent of donated funds, proper donor acknowledgment/recognition, and reporting on how gifts are used
- Follows up with donors regarding pledged and received donations and provides documentation confirming donation(s) and designation, giving timeline, donor intent, terms of recognition, and other points
- Processes cash, check, and credit card donations in a timely manner upon receipt, ensuring the confidentiality of donor information
- Generates reports for each deposit
- Maintains gift receipt documentation for the required time frame
- Performs audits and corrects errors, escalating to supervisor as appropriate
- Updates donor records, sends donor correspondence (including pledge reminders, gift acknowledgment letters, annual reports on gift usage, annual giving statements for tax purposes, newsletters, etc.), and participates in fundraising and outreach events
- Frequently interfaces directly with donors via phone and email and provides an excellent donor experience through customer service, active listening, inclusive language, and thoughtful and persuasive discussion, consistently upholding the integrity and mission of Indiana University
- Generates weekly, monthly, and/or annual reports and prepares presentations of fundraising metrics and fund use/allocation for use by other development staff
- Assists with coordinating donor recognition or outreach events
- May coordinate recognition efforts with outside vendors, such as ordering plaque name plates or incentive items
- May provide guidance to lower-level Stewardship Coordinators
Qualifications

EDUCATION
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED)
Required
- 4 years in fundraising, sales, a higher education foundation, administrative, or related field
- Experience executing Stewardship activities
- Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and/or donor database software
Required

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
Work Location
This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule (mix between remote and in-person work), subject to change in the future based on university policy and business needs.
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday will be in office days.

$50,000 - $55,000 per year
