Job Description:
The CDR Phenotyper will support the development and validation of high-quality phenotypes within Clinical Data Repositories (CDRs), including but not limited to All of Us Research, Epic Cosmos, and other OMOP-based systems. This role is integral to the research efforts led by Dr. Alexander Alekseyenko and his collaborators, enabling robust data-driven studies through precise phenotype definitions and analytics.
Job Duties:
1. Collect phenotype descriptions from domain experts (30%)
a. Conduct structured interviews and meetings with clinicians and researchers to gather phenotype definitions
b. Translate clinical concepts into computable definitions using standardized terminologies
c. Document phenotype requirements and maintain version control of definitions
2. Specify and validate phenotypes (30%)
a. Develop phenotype algorithms using SQL, R, and Python within OMOP-based environments
b. Perform iterative validation using test cohorts and feedback from domain experts
c. Ensure reproducibility and accuracy of phenotype definitions across datasets
3. Gather descriptive statistics (30%)
a. Generate summary statistics and visualizations for phenotypes across different cohorts
b. Analyze prevalence, demographic distributions, and comorbidity patterns
c. Prepare reports and presentations for internal and external collaborators
4. Complete necessary trainings (10%)
a. Participate in required institutional and project-specific training (e.g., data privacy, OMOP tools, All of Us protocols)
b. Stay current with updates in CDR platforms and data governance policies
c. Engage in professional development relevant to clinical informatics and data science
Additional Knowledge, skill, ability preferred:
Proficiency in R and Python for data manipulation and analysis
Experience with SQL for querying large-scale clinical databases
Familiarity with the OMOP Common Data Model and related tools
Understanding of clinical terminology and coding systems (e.g., ICD, SNOMED, LOINC)
Ability to communicate effectively with clinical and technical stakeholders

A bachelor's degree with mathematics and/or statistics courses may be substituted for the required work experience.
