Job Summary:
Under limited supervision, installs/repairs lock sets, cut keys, repairs panic hardware/Lever and knob locks, etc... Key / re-key all types of MUSC systems cylinders. Lock shop is responsible for all locking devices at MUSC, including High security Narcotic areas, doors, and equipment. Answers maintenance calls for repairing and unlocking doors, file cabinets, desks, and lockers. Perform preventive maintenance on door hardware locking systems. Performs related and non-related duties as required.
Job Responsibilities:
20% -Change and set combinations on safes, install lock sets, repair locks sets, cut keys, key locks, repair/adjust locks and panic hardware. Troubleshoot problems with locking systems, perform preventive maintenance on building locking systems. Program, troubleshoot, repair and maintain electronic locks systems. Maintain documentation on work orders, supplies, and time sheets. Maintain records on key issuance. Answer maintenance calls for repairing and unlocking doors, file cabinets, desks, lockers, etc. Maintain computerized keying logs. Perform related and non-related duties as required. Ensure compliance with safety and building codes. Follow proper operating, maintenance and safety procedures. Initiate preventive maintenance and recommend improvements to increase the efficiency of crews and equipment. Perform high level trades skill in the maintenance and repair of University and Hospital equipment. Understand and be able to build master key systems.
20% - Maintain documentation on work orders, supplies, and time sheets in AiMS. Maintain computerized keying logs.
20% - Set up advanced keying systems & re-keys for security purposes. Develops material lists to obtain supplies for job assignments to get pre-approval from the supervisor through AIM. Accuracy of documentation is very important. Performs work in a safe manner; using care in working with shop and personal tools and equipment; conserve supplies and works as efficiently as possible; document labor and materials accurately.
15% - Perform work as requested by foreman. Be available for after hour call backs on a rotating basis. Responds to maintenance calls for repairing and unlocking doors, file cabinets, desks lockers, etc.
10 % - Commit to University Standards of Behavior by: supporting the mission of the Medical University of South Carolina through adherence to its policies, procedures, and Code of Conduct. Maintain a safe workplace through the adherence of safety and security protocols. Be accountable for the appropriate use of time and resources. Display an outstanding attitude, maintain an appropriate/professional appearance, and being fully accountable for interactions with customers, coworkers, and the MUSC leadership. Deliver exemplary customer service, including AIDET and the 10/5 rule appropriately sharing information without violating confidentiality. Promoting cooperation among all members of the MUSC community Support and embrace diversity in a respectful environment.
5%- Diagnosis and repair of commercial automatic doors; commercial manual doors and hardware; access control components and systems on commercial doors.
5%- Perform automatic door inspections as requested.
5%- Perform fire door inspections as requested.
Additional Job Description
Minimum Requirements: A high school diploma and three years trade experience that is directly related to the area of employment. Some positions require a commercial driver's license. Some positions require EPA-approved freon recovery certification. (Continuous) Ability to qualify physically for respirator use. (Continuous) Additional New Requirements: Ability to obtain and maintain a valid drivers license. Ability to obtain and maintain EPA Approved Freon recovery certification.
