Vice Chair for Clinical Operations
The Henry J. N. Taub Department of Emergency Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas is seeking an experienced Emergency Physician leader for the position of Vice Chair (VC) for Clinical Operations. This position will report directly to the Chair of Emergency Medicine.
The VC will provide oversight of all clinical operations. Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center is a quaternary referral center with high acuity patients and is home to the Texas Heart Institute and multiple transplant programs. Ben Taub General Hospital is a public hospital with about 80,000 annual emergency visits each year and certified stroke, STEMI and Level 1 trauma programs. Texas Children’s Hospital is consistently ranked as one of the nation’s best, largest and most comprehensive specialty care pediatric hospitals.
Key duties include:
- Serving as an expert in clinical operations, systems management, team building and leadership, human resource oversight— includes recruitment, onboarding and performance management.
- Creating and operationalizing strategic goals, interacting with community and hospital partners to provide exceptional care to our patients.
- Promoting innovation and collaboration with internal and external partners.
- Leading quality initiatives and clinical programs throughout the department, including disaster preparedness and patient experience.
- Maintaining and tracking operational and financial metrics, overseeing billing compliance and financial performance, and assuring regulatory compliance.
- Integrating with education and research programs and initiatives within the department.
Minimum qualifications:
- Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree
- Board certification in Emergency Medicine
- At least five years of clinical leadership experience postresidency
Preferred qualifications:
- Strong skills in data analytics and clinical practice management
- Master of Health Administration (MHA), Master of Business Administration (MBA) or equivalent field.
