Description
DescriptionThe Department of Chemistry at Tulane University invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor position beginning in the Spring 2026. The successful applicant will have a Ph.D. in Chemistry. Duties will include teaching General Chemistry classes. The Department of Chemistry recognizes and rewards innovative and quality teaching. Candidates interested in creating and adopting pedagogical innovations will find many opportunities and support to pursue their interests. The successful candidate will have a record of excellent teaching and mentoring at the undergraduate level, and commitment to student-centered teaching in chemistry.
The appointment is for one year, potentially renewable.
Tulane University, located in New Orleans, Louisiana, is a mid-sized private research university with approximately 8500 undergraduate students. The Chemistry Department is part of the School of Science and Engineering and has 16 research faculty, 4 teaching faculty, approximately 60 graduate students and around 80 undergraduate Chemistry and Biochemistry majors. Qualifications
Ph.D. in Chemistry; teaching experience preferred
Application Instructions
Review of applications will begin on Oct 1 and will continue until the position is filled.
Applicants should submit a cover letter, vitae, statement of teaching philosophy, a copy of the abstract of their Ph.D. dissertation, and at least three letters of recommendation that address teaching.
Start day: January 2, 2026.
