Indiana University Bloomington
Position: The Department of Mathematics at Indiana University Bloomington invites applications for a two-year Visiting Lecturer beginning Fall 2026.
Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities will be instruction during the academic year. Most of the instruction will be in a diverse set of introductory courses including precalculus, finite mathematics, and calculus as well as mathematics of decision and beauty. The teaching load is six courses per academic year.
Department culture: The candidate hired to fill the position will join a dynamic team of faculty. Instructors are supported through course coordination and the department teaching seminar. Our faculty also benefit from department supported opportunities for camaraderie. There is daily departmental tea as well as seasonal departmental parties and picnics.
Desired Qualifications: A Ph.D. in the mathematical sciences or mathematics education, earned by the time of appointment, is strongly preferred. The minimum requirements are a (i) mathematics education equivalent to at least that required for the M.A. degree in mathematics at Indiana University, or (ii) an M.A.T. degree and substantial relevant experience. A commitment to excellence in teaching, student success, teamwork, and ongoing improvement is also required.
We seek candidates with the courage and curiosity to pursue novel and innovative methods of thinking and teaching; a commitment to inclusive and student-centered, evidence-based pedagogy; and the administrative, organizational, and mentoring skills required to interact with and lead complex teams. We especially value experience teaching classes with 100 or more students.
