Position Information

Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent and 2 years of professional experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field
- A minimum of 3-5 years' experience in employee relations with the primary focus on workplace investigations
- Strong communication and interpersonal relationship skills.
- Ability to exercise considerable judgment and discretion.
Position Summary
The Workforce Engagement Investigator leads investigations into human resources policy violations and workplace issues across the University. The role requires the highest levels of confidentiality, discretion, and compliance with University policies and procedures, while ensuring investigations align with applicable federal and state laws. The Investigator collaborates closely with the Office of Equal Employment and the Office of Legal Affairs as well as other administrative offices at the institution.

Physical Demands
- The employee will spend a significant amount of time sitting at a desk, working on a computer, and participating in meetings
- The employee will be responsible for driving to other UGA campuses/locations outside of the Athens area

Investigator:
- Plan, conduct, and manage impartial investigations, to include complaints of employee misconduct, policy violations, retaliation, and other workplace issues within the University.
- Ensure investigations are conducted in a timely, thorough, and fair manner.
- Prepare clear, concise, and comprehensive investigation reports that accurately summarize findings, analyze evidence, and reach supportable conclusions, appropriate resolution and corrective action.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of all investigation activities, including interview notes, evidence collected, and investigative steps taken.
Consultant:
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Serves as consultant for facilitating workplace inquiries/concerns, working in conjunction with EOO, Legal Affairs, and other offices as necessary to ensure issues are resolved.
- May assist in developing and delivering training programs on employee relations topics, such as workplace conduct, conflict resolution, and supporting healthy work environments.
Compliance:
- Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
- Prepare or maintain employment records relative to progressive discipline, to include terminations, demotions, suspensions, employee's progress, policy violations and other personnel actions, using human resources management system software.
