The Division of Nephrology and Hypertension at Weill Cornell Medicine and the Department of Transplantation Medicine, chaired by Dr. Manikkam Suthanthiran, invite applications for an outstanding Nephrologist to join a vibrant, academically driven, and nationally recognized program. We seek a clinically excellent, forward-thinking physician dedicated to compassionate, and evidence-based clinical care; committed to the teaching and mentoring of fellows, residents and medical students; and eager to advance the field of transplantation through scientific innovation and clinical excellence.

Weill Cornell Medicine (WCM) is the medical school of Cornell University. Faculty members have clinical appointments at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital (NYPH), one of the largest and most comprehensive academic medical centers in the nation and one of New York City’s top-ranked hospitals.
Academic Responsibilities:
- This clinical position will provide urgent and chronic care to our patients.
- The Nephrologist will evaluate and treat patients in accordance with the standards of care, perform rounds at dialysis units and in the hospital, and provide consultations in both hospital and office settings.
- Weekend and/or holiday service as an attending physician on the inpatient service commensurate with peers.
Requirements
Medical Education Requirements:
- Candidates must maintain an M.D or comparable foreign medical degree
- Certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) in nephrology
- Eligibility for New York state medical licensure
Academic Appointment Requirements:
- Academic rank of Assistant Professor of Medicine typically includes 4-6 years of academic experience with first author scholarship related to the clinical field and teaching.
- Academic rank of Associate Professor of Medicine typically includes 6-8 years of academic experience with first author scholarship related to the clinical field and teaching.
Clinical Appointment Requirements:
- Appointment as an Assistant or Associate Attending Physician of NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital (NYPH) will be contingent upon approval of the WCM academic appointment. Hospital attending and/or consultation privileges will be limited to WCM and NYP-Lower Manhattan Hospital, unless otherwise specifically agreed to in writing by the Medical College Dean.
Professional Licenses and Certifications:
- A valid New York State medical license, DEA license, board certification, and all applicable certification and/or credentialling specific to the medical specialty; must meet the qualifications to enroll and participate in all third-party payer insurance plan credentialing.
Competencies:
- Must remain compliant with all WCM and NYPH initiatives, to include completion of the WCM academic annual self-assessment and completion of NYPH annual ongoing professional peer evaluation.
