Hebrew SeniorLife is affiliated with Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) through a shared relationship that includes teaching, research, and clinical care for older adults.
Research Position at Hebrew SeniorLife and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center
The Assistant Scientist II would conduct supervised research to develop and validate of biomarkers of aging at the Hinda and Arthur Marcus Institute for Aging Research at Hebrew SeniorLife. The candidate would be expected to secure grant funding, develop research collaborations, conduct and publish research findings, and contribute to creation of an integrated cohort database for Hebrew SeniorLife’s “Learning Health Care System.”
Core Competencies
The candidate must have skills to conduct aging research in a supervised environment with the potential to develop into an independent investigator. He/she works effectively and collaboratively within a team, group and across the organization to lead and manage research projects.
Key Responsibilities
The candidate will conduct rigorous research in developing and validating biomarkers of aging. Research findings will be disseminated through high impact journals and conference presentations. It is expected that the candidate will apply for and obtain independent research funding. The candidate will implement artificial intelligence algorithms for applications to aging research and will also contribute to the development and management of integrated cohort databases to advance aging research. Additionally, he/she will mentor trainees, fostering their development in aging research. Furthermore, the candidate will perform additional duties as assigned to support the overall mission and goals of Hebrew SeniorLife and BIDMC.
Qualifications
Education: PhD and/MD degree with demonstrated research experience through grants and publications.
The successful applicant will be eligible for a faculty appointment at the appropriate rank of Instructor or Assistant Professor at Harvard Medical School.
Demonstrated experience in research focused on omics, biomarkers, aging research, and artificial intelligence evidenced by peer-reviewed publications. Ability to work independently and in a team, and to supervise and train clinical professionals and students.
