Position SummaryReporting to the President, the Executive Director of Economic Mobility and Workforce Innovation serves as a strategic leader advancing the College's vision for career-connected learning and workforce alignment. The Executive Director provides leadership for EMWI division, driving innovation, fostering cross-sector partnerships, and ensuring the College remains responsive to evolving regional and industry workforce needs.
This role champions the design and growth of a forward-looking portfolio of non-credit workforce programs and credit-bearing microcredentials that create meaningful pathways for students to careers with family-sustaining wages and serves the community by providing a skilled workforce in high-demand fields. The Executive Director also leads the Office of Career Readiness and Success, cultivating an institutional culture that embeds real-world learning, experiential opportunities, and career preparedness across the student experience.
Through collaboration with academic, industry, and community partners, the Executive Director advances scalable, data-informed strategies that enhance student success, strengthen workforce pipelines, and position RCC as a leader in career-connected education.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborates deeply with the President and Executive Cabinet to develop a vision for Rockland Community College's strategic engagement in service to its economic mobility and workforce innovation objectives by driving transformational and equitable impact in the communities it serves.
- Develops and maintains strategic employer partnerships that support the design of curriculum, work-based learning, apprenticeships, internships, incumbent worker training, customized training, and talent pipeline initiatives.
- Leads the development and scaling of innovative workforce programs, microcredentials, and career readiness initiatives that respond to emerging industry needs
- Establishes and monitors key performance indicators related to enrollment, credential attainment, employment outcomes, employer satisfaction, partnership growth, grant performance, and revenue generation, using results to drive continuous improvement.
- Leads the identification, research, and development of grant opportunities aligned with institutional priorities, working collaboratively with the Grants Office to prepare competitive proposals and ensure compliance throughout the grant lifecycle
- Champions data-informed decision-making by leveraging insights, evaluation findings, and institutional research to guide strategy, measure impact, and drive continuous improvement
- Promotes a culture of student success by advancing strategies that improve access, persistence, and completion, particularly for targeted populations
- Builds and leads high-performing, collaborative teams that are empowered to innovate and advance the College's workforce and career readiness mission
- Strengthens institutional capacity for integrated career readiness by aligning efforts across academic affairs, student services, and external partners
- Perform other leadership-related responsibilities that advance the mission and strategic priorities of the College
Required Qualifications/Education and Experience
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible leadership experience in workforce development, higher education, or a related field involving employer partnerships, economic development and workforce strategy.
- Experience designing or supporting programs that advance success and retention for historically underserved students, including Hispanic, low-income, and first-generation college students, preferred.
Starting Salary: $118,000 - $123,000
Please note: This is an on-campus position and is not remote. The successful candidate must be available to work on-site at Rockland Community College.
