Essential Functions:
- 90% - Groundskeeping
- Mowing, watering, weeding, seeding fertilizing, refuse collection in areas assigned.
- Operate power mowers and associated lawn equipment in the maintenance of hedges, shrubs, trees, and lawns.
- Maintain automatic sprinkler systems.
- Maintain streets by patching asphalt, installing and maintaining pavers, operating jackhammers, and pouring concrete.
- Operate trucks, vans, backhoe, snowplows, and other heavy equipment.
- Apply chemicals and fertilizers on lawns, trees, and shrubs.
- Perform general labor and maintenance duties in support of the Maintenance Division during the off-season.
- Duties to include support tall maintenance trades.
- Remove snow and ice from sidewalks, roadways, plazas, and steps.
- Essential functions listed here require the physical and environmental demands in order to carry out these duties.
- 10% - Other Duties as Assigned
Educational Requirement:
- High School Diploma or GED
Years of Related Experience Requirement:
- 3 years
- In lieu of the educational qualifications, candidates may qualify with equivalent professional experience at a ratio of one year of experience for each year of required education.
Certifications and/or Licensures:
- Valid driver's license and a good driving record.
Skills & Abilities:
- 1 year experience in Landscape maintenance or equivalent in education in related field
- Ability to problem solve individually or in a team setting
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks individually or in a team setting
- Ability to work individually and as part of a team
- Knowledge of the safe use and disposal of chemicals like fertilizers and herbicides
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Knowledge of groundskeeping tools and equipment (e.g. mowers, trimmers, blowers etc)
- Knowledge of snow removal equipment/chemical (liquid/granular de-icer, shovels, snowblowers, plows, etc)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair issues with Landscape equipment/machinery
- Experience with commercial Landscape equipment including - industrial mowers, weed-wackers, backpack blowers, power edgers, power pruners, pole saws, etc.
- Knowledge of common landscape pests, diseases, and blights
- Knowledge of turf, shrub, tree, and flower varietals
- Experience with snow removal equipment/machinery
- Experience with heavy machinery including but not limited to; backhoe, tractors, skid steer, loaders, and lifts of varying sizes, etc.
Physical & On-Campus Requirements:
In-Office Presence - Ability to work on-site in typical office setting and participate in in-person meetings with colleagues: 5 days/week
Standing/Sitting - Ability to remain in a stationary position for a prolonged period: Daily (>75% of time)
Walking - Ability to move about on foot to accomplish tasks: Daily (>75% of time)
Lifting/Carrying - Ability to move or transport objects up to a specified weight (e.g., 50 pounds): Daily (>75% of time)
Attention to Detail - Ability to focus on detailed tasks for extended periods: Daily (>75% of time)
Problem-Solving - Ability to identify and resolve issues effectively: Daily (>75% of time)
The budgeted salary range that the University reasonably expects to offer for this position: $41,600
Pay Range:
Minimum Salary (Non-Exempt): 20
Midpoint Salary (Non-Exempt): 23.90
Maximum Salary (Non-Exempt): 27.80
