Job DescriptionThe Department of Pathology, Division of Laboratory Medicine, at the University of Alabama at Birmingham is seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible pathologist (MD or MD/PhD) or PhD-trained individual for an open rank/open tenure faculty position.
As part of a team of clinical microbiologists, the successful candidate will serve as the Director of Virology, Molecular Microbiology, and Mycobacteriology at UAB Hospitals and utilize their broad clinical microbiology training to contribute to diagnostic services in all areas of clinical microbiology. In this role, this individual will either have already established national/international recognition in virology or mycobacteriology or exhibit significant potential and motivation to establish an academic career in these fields.
Required Qualifications
The successful candidate must have completed a formal fellowship in Clinical Microbiology (American Board of Pathology or American Board of Medical Microbiology), and be motivated to participate in resident, fellow, and medical student teaching. Interested clinical microbiology fellows, junior faculty, and established colleagues are highly encouraged to apply.
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates with significant interest in establishing a NIH funded or sponsored research program in infectious diseases are preferred.
