Job DescriptionThe Department of Radiology, a clinical department of the School of Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham ( UAB ), invites applications from highly qualified individuals with strong imaging-related and radiochemistry research interests for tenure-earning and tenured positions at the rank of Assistant, Associate, and full Professor, based on experience and qualifications. Qualified candidates should hold a PhD and demonstrate a collaborative and leadership mindset. Applicants are expected to have a strong research vision, mentor trainees, and will support their program with NIH and other federal, foundation and/or industry support.

The department continues to invest strategically in imaging infrastructure to support the growth of its clinical, research, and translational programs. Current initiatives include finalizing agreements for the Omni Legend 128 and Omni Legend 24 cardiac PET systems, as well as the recent acquisition of the StarGuide SPECT /CT system. These investments enhance imaging capabilities, increase operational capacity, and strengthen the department's position as a leader in advanced molecular imaging. Candidates who join this exciting environment must be committed to developing a robust extramurally funded research program, teaching excellence at the graduate levels, and involvement in service activities to the University and the profession. We are seeking candidates that will provide scientific and strategic leadership for UAB's cyclotron facility and radiopharmaceutical production programs, supporting basic, translational, and clinical research across the institution. The Cyclotron Director will oversee radiochemistry operations, radiopharmaceutical development and production, regulatory compliance, facility personnel, and infrastructure planning while fostering collaborations across UAB's research and clinical communities. The successful candidate must have strong communication skills and be able to collaborate with colleagues and participate in ongoing departmental programs. Candidates should have demonstrated a strong track record of research with an interest in enhancing the research and teaching experiences of our undergraduate and graduate students.
Positions require an earned doctoral degree or equivalent in chemistry, physics, biology, engineering, or related field.
