Description
The Department of Neurology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and UPMC invites applications for an outstanding Academic Vascular Neurologist to join the UPMC Stroke Institute, under the leadership of Dr. Page B. Pennell, Chair of Neurology, and Dr. Raul G. Nogueira, Director of the UPMC Stroke Institute and Division Chief of Cerebrovascular Medicine. The successful candidate will join an internationally recognized team committed to advancing the science and practice of cerebrovascular medicine through excellence in patient care, education, clinical research, and innovation.The position is available at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor level, commensurate with experience and academic accomplishments. Applicants must have completed an ACGME-accredited Vascular Neurology Fellowship, be board-certified or board-eligible in Neurology and Vascular Neurology, and be eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Interests in clinical research, clinical trials, medical education, quality improvement, implementation science, artificial intelligence, or stroke systems of care are strongly encouraged.

- Practice within one of the nation's most comprehensive integrated stroke systems, including 5 Comprehensive/ Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Centers, numerous Primary Stroke Centers, and one of the country's largest academic telestroke networks.
- Collaborate with vascular neurologists, neurointerventional neurologists, cerebrovascular neurosurgeons, neurocritical care physicians, neuroradiologists, rehabilitation specialists, advanced practice providers, and dedicated research professionals.
- Participate in landmark NIH-funded, investigator-initiated, and industry-sponsored clinical trials that continue to shape national and international stroke guidelines.
- Teach and mentor 5 ACGME-accredited Vascular Neurology Fellows and 4 CAST-accredited Neuroendovascular Fellows, along with neurology residents, medical students, and visiting physicians.
- Engage in innovation spanning advanced neuroendovascular treatments, neuroimaging, neurosonology, artificial intelligence, digital health, implementation science, and regional stroke systems of care.
