Job DescriptionA post-doctoral position in the Norton Laboratory in the Department of Immunology & Microbiology is available immediately to conduct research projects on vaccination and infectious diseases under NIH contracts and grants. Post-doctoral fellows are individuals holding a Ph.D or equivalent terminal degree who play a major role in conducting research programs independently as well through collaborative and collegial interactions with faculty, graduate students, and staff. The ideal candidate will have experience in human or mouse immunology, microbiology, cellular biology, or biostatistics. The successful candidate will be mentored toward research independence in his/her chosen area of specialization. Review of applications will begin immediately.
Responsibilities
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITITIES/COMPETENCIES TYPICALLY NEEDED TO PERFORM THIS JOB SUCCESSFULLY:
- Ability to independently read and critique the scientific literature.
- Ability to work independently on projects, including experimental design, execution, problem solving, data analysis, and data interpretation under the supervision of the PI; ability to create new, independent projects.
- Ability to write manuscripts, review manuscripts, and present data in lab meetings and at scientific conferences.
Qualifications
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Ph.D.
- Research experience in the areas of immunology, microbiology, biology, biochemistry, or biostatistics
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with genetic mouse models and vaccination
- Experience with immunologic analyses including flow cytometry, ELISA, etc.
- Experience with molecular methods for biochemical assessment or formulation assessments.
- Experience with biostatistical tests for identifying predictors of immunologic effects and vaccine efficacy
- Experience with human sample analysis.
