Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning at the University of Michigan invites applications for tenure-track faculty positions at the rank of assistant professor, associate professor, or professor in the Urban and Regional Planning (URP) Program. One position will focus on land use and resilience planning, with research advancing the intersection of land use and climate resilience through a U.S., global, and/or comparative lens. We are particularly interested in candidates whose work addresses pressing challenges such as community resilience and sustainability; climate mitigation, vulnerability reduction, and adaptation; disaster preparedness, planning, and recovery; Indigenous planning and other land use and resilience-related topics. We also welcome candidates whose work examines disparities in exposure to environmental hazards and climate risks and inequalities in access to environmental benefits and protections. Another position will focus on real estate, with research that advances the field and intersects with areas such as land and property markets, regulation, public-private partnerships, urban economics, community ownership models. We are particularly interested candidates whose work addresses housing affordability, sustainability, climate resilience, and urban development policy. 

We seek candidates qualified to teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, including current or future core MURP offerings and electives aligned with their areas of expertise. The land use and resilience planning position includes teaching in Land Use and Environmental Planning and/or Sustainability, Resilience, Adaptation, and Climate Change focus areas. The real estate position will support Taubman College’s growing real estate academic portfolio, including the undergraduate minor in real estate and the graduate certificate in real estate development, with opportunities to develop signature courses and teach in areas such as public economics, fiscal planning, or urban technology. The real estate faculty member will also be affiliated with the Weiser Center for Real Estate, contribute significant service to the unit, and may have the opportunity to direct the graduate certificate in real estate development and/or the undergraduate minor in real estate. 

Successful candidates will join a vibrant, collaborative, innovative, and welcoming community of faculty in the URP Program, home to the highly ranked Master of Urban and Regional Planning, the Ph.D. in Urban and Regional Planning, and the Bachelor of Science in Urban Technology, with collaborations across campus including the Graham Sustainability Institute, the School for Environment and Sustainability, the School of Public Health, and the Weiser Center for Real Estate at Michigan Ross, and others.
